Jane's Story

We are Cheryl & Richard Schmidt – friends of Jane Johnson.

Jane died on September 20th 2000 & is now with her Lord Jesus Christ.  She will be remembered as a dedicated nurse, a loyal friend, and a devout Christian.

This is her story.

Jane started her nursing career in 1967 as a nursing assistant at St. Mary's hospital in Tucson, AZ. She then came to Phoenix in 1970 to attend Good Samaritan Hospital's School of Nursing.  That is where we met and we developed a strong friendship that lasted over 25 years. Jane’s career began as a cardio-vascular nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital & was in on the entire medical & technical advances in that field.

In 1992, she felt that she was no longer making a difference and no longer receiving the same satisfaction nor felt the same love for nursing.  Jane left hospital nursing and took her skills to a different focus.  She work for a health plan administrator as a prior authorization nurse.  Her knowledge of medicine and computers made her an asset to the company.

Jane found herself still searching for something more.  She felt that there is something missing in her life.  Like most people. Jane had always considered herself a Christian, believing in God but never sought out Christ's strength in her everyday life.  As she would say she would reach out “only for the "911" prayers”. It was during this time of searching that she found herself at Community Church of Joy.   Through the guidance of the pastors and the people of Joy she found a personal relationship with Christ and Jane’s faith began to grow and with it, a new found source of powerful and unlimited strength!

Through the church, she ran into another nurse that she had worked with at Good Samaritan.  Theresa and her saw a new way to use their nursing knowledge & their faith so Joy’s Parish Ministry was founded.  My husband, Richard & I also joined with them in the ministry.

Jane wasn’t through.  She still wanted to be able to reach people & educate them on medical issues & to spread the word of God.  What better way than through the internet.

Thus began her web page.

So it is with love that my husband, Richard & I keep this webpage in her memory. Blessings in Christ.
