Carmel clinched a trip to sectionals with a big win over Mahopac on Friday. Carmel came out fired up, winning balls in the middle and using the width of the field to their advantage. Luke Shkreli lead off the scoring for Carmel, beating four defenders and putting the ball past the keeper. T.J. Helly beat the keeper later in the first half to go up 2-0 before halftime. Luke and T.J both scored again early in the second half to make it 4-0. Mahopac added two of their own, but Luke Shkreli put another one in for his first hattrick of the season. Mahopac scored their final goal on a penalty kick late in the game. The entire team played extremely well for Carmel. Kyle Hengel did a great job shutting down guys in the middle and Chris Tychostup worked hard to keep balls out of the back. Paul Hammer created several goal scoring opportunities with his hard work up top. This was one of Carmel's best games, start to finish. Good luck against Yorktown on Tuesday.
