Carmel upset North Salem's undefeated record with a big win in the opening round of the Brewster Tournament Friday night. Both teams were scoreless at halftime, but Carmel was able to convert an opportunity 20 minutes into the second half. T.J. Helly kept the ball from going over the end line and knocked it back to Chris Carey. Chris got a touch on the ball and put it in front of the net for Luke Shkreli. Luke made space and buried the ball in the back of the net. Carmel's defense did a super job tracking players and not letting North Salem get off any quality shots. Brett Southard did a tremendous job in goal, posting his third shutout of the season. Carmel's ready to take on the winner of Friday's other game in the Championship round Saturday night at Brewster.
