Have You Lost Or Found An Animal?
If you've lost your pet, contact your local Animal Shelter and/or Humane Society immediately.  Most shelters are only required to hold an animal for 4 to 7 days, then it's legally theirs to adopt out or worse yet, destroy.
Ask all your neighbors.  They may have seen it and can point you in the right direction.  They can also be on the lookout for your pet.
Place an ad in the local newspapers.  Put up flyers at grocery stores, gas stations, shopping centers, libraries, schools, and other places that reach a large amount of people.
When you do find your pet, if it's not wearing one already, put a license and I.D. on your pet.  A tag is your pet's ticket home and speaks for him as he cannot tell anyone where he belongs.
If you've found a pet, report it to your local Humane Society and/or Animal Shelter immediately.  It is illegal to keep a found animal without reporting it to the proper authorities.  Someone may be looking for their pet and has reported it to the shelter.
Then place an ad in the local newspaper.  Some newspapers offer a free found ad so you won't have to pay for it.
Check with your neighbors.  The pet might belong to them.
If you would like to keep it ask the shelter worker how many days you must hold onto it before it becomes legally yours.  Once it becomes yours, take it to a veterinarian for a check-up, get needed vaccinations, and make sure you TAG IT!!
If you do not want to keep it, call Animal Control and have it picked up or take it to the shelter.
