Rehearsal Attendance
Policies
It is an honor to be a member of the
Mandatory
Rehearsals
All rehearsals are mandatory unless otherwise indicated on the choir
calendar. An absence for any reason
from a final rehearsal (“dress rehearsal”) may result in the singer being
excluded from the following concert and is up to the discretion of the
conductor.
Attendance Requirements and Notification
Procedures
1.
Excused Absence
From Rehearsals: A choir member may be excused from
rehearsals for illness, a death in the family, or a conflict with a mandatory
school performance/commitment. In
order to be excused, the Choir Manager must be notified prior to the
rehearsal. You may also leave a
message with CCC staff at 556-0338 or [email protected] and we will notify your Choir
Manager.
2.
Absences that occur for any reason other than those
stated as excused will be considered on an individual basis by the child’s choir
director. Any absences
determined unexcused may result in dismissal from the program. Tuition will not be
refunded.
3.
As much as CCC supports a child’s need to maintain good
grades and receive a good education, we cannot regularly accept homework as an
excused absence. Singers should plan ahead.
4.
Habitual tardiness will be regarded as lack of
commitment and may result in dismissal from the program.
5.
If your Choir Manager has
not been notified prior to a late arrival or early dismissal, it will be
considered unexcused. In
order to be recorded as excused, parents must submit a written note prior to the
rehearsal. A written excuse should
include the child’s name, reason for dismissal or tardiness, and the parent’s
signature.
6.
Notification of planned absences must be sent in as
early as possible so that the artistic staff can plan
accordingly.
Each singer will receive a list of choir members and choir managers early
in the season. Included will be
phone numbers where you can reach managers. Please insert the list into this booklet
and remember that these people are volunteers. Please respect their privacy at home
whenever possible.
Performance Attendance
Policies
Every singer is expected to
attend all scheduled performances.
If a school performance conflicts, the time conflict should be discussed
in advance, as soon as the conflict is announced by the school. Please consult school calendars, sports
calendars, and family calendars early in the year. CCC members are expected to treat their
school performance as a priority over a CCC performance unless otherwise
negotiated with the school director.
Performance Conflict Policies and
Procedures
1.
Attendance at all scheduled performances is considered
mandatory.
2.
Excused Absence from a scheduled
performance:
Illness
Death in the Family
School Music Performance
3.
A written schedule of all conflicts (sports, theater,
school, church) should be submitted to the Choir Manager and the Director as
soon as possible.
4.
All WRITTEN requests will be reviewed by
the staff on an individual basis and determined “excused” or “unexcused” based
on the degree the absence would compromise the choir and it’s performance and/or the conflict
expressed.
5.
If written notification is not submitted prior to the
performance, the absence will be considered unexcused.
6.
Any
unexcused performance absence may result in dismissal from the program. Dismissal will not entitle the singer to
a tuition refund.
Weather Policy
The Preparatory Department follows
the
CCC also reserves the right to cancel rehearsals when the University
remains open but the staff feel concerned about the
safety of choir members and families en route. All CCC cancellations will be announced
on all major television and radio stations. CCC voice mail will also announce the
cancellation as soon as the decision is made by the CCC staff
(556-0336).
Singers’ Conduct and
Policies
The following policies will be enforced for the children’s safety and in
order to achieve productive, professional quality rehearsals out of respect for
each other.
CCC
Members Guidelines
1.
Arrive no more than 10 minutes before the scheduled
rehearsal time and immediately check in with your Choir Manager or Student
Intern. Late arrivals must always
check in before taking their seat.
If tardy, please be sure the singer has a note from a
parent.
2.
Give any attendance notes, permission slips, etc. to the
Choir Manager at the check-in table/area.
3.
Please do not hand any payments to your conductor or
artistic staff.
4.
Do not roam the building or campus at any time. Students should stay in the rehearsal
area.
5.
Do not bring food or drinks into the rehearsal
area. A tightly sealed water bottle
containing water will be permitted.
6.
At all times, show respect for each other, parent
volunteers and the facilities.
7.
Pay attention to the Director at all times and do not
talk or in any way distract other singers.
8.
We are guests of CCM and any other venue we
rehearse/perform in. Please do not
run, yell, or demonstrate any other disrespectful behavior.
9.
Always bring your CCC bag, music, pencil, and any other
hand-outs given by the director for the singer’s use.
10. Do not fold or roll music.
11. All markings should be made lightly.
12. Folders and music are the singers’ responsibility. If folders and music are lost or
irreparably damaged, there will be a $25.00 replacement charge.
13. Choral folios for Lyric, Jubilate, and Preparatory
Choirs will remain in the rehearsal room.
Periodically, the director or a singer may request that the members take
home the music to study. The music
may be checked out at the end of rehearsal. Please check out the music with the
Choir Manager before leaving the building.
14. Bel Canto members will be regularly responsible for
carrying their music and outside study if necessary. Occasionally, scores will not be allowed
to leave the rehearsal room. This
is to insure the music is not lost and most often occurs with orchestral and
rented scores. Parents are always
welcome to come to rehearsal or read through a score.
15. Singers are responsible for delivering any hand-outs,
calendars, and other written information to you parents promptly!
16. If a singer is unable to actively participate in the
rehearsal, s/he should still bring all necessary materials and observe
quietly. It will benefit the singer
to quietly listen when experiencing a minor illness rather than stay home and
miss rehearsal completely.
Additionally, research has proven those who sing through colds and minor
illnesses encounter shorter, less-severe symptoms.
CCC Performers
Guidelines
1.
Singers should always eat a nutritious meal and get
plenty of rest before a performance.
2.
Singers should use the restroom before arriving at the
concert site.
3.
Singers should arrive ten minutes before the scheduled
call and check in with the Choir Manager or Student Intern.
4.
If a singer is late for the scheduled call, the singer
may be excluded from the concert.
5.
All singers should arrive dressed for the concert as
listed in the concert detail sheet sent home for the performance.
6.
Singers should remain calm, quiet, and professional and
give the Director and/or Performance Coordinator their undivided
attention.
7.
All singers must demonstrate artistic understanding of
the performance repertoire. Failure
to demonstrate this at the final dress rehearsal may result in the singer being
excluded from that concert.
8.
All singers must demonstrate that the music has been
fully memorized prior by the dress rehearsal unless otherwise noted by the
conductor.
9.
If a singer feels ill during a performance, he or she
should sit down where he or she is standing. If the singer is feeling better at the
end of the song, he or she may stand up again. If not, please quietly leave the
stage. There will be parent
volunteers watching and ready to assist.
For their own safety, once a singer leaves the stage, the singer may not
return to the stage.
10. Please remember
that the singers are representing the
Parent
Guidelines
1.
Parents are responsible for collecting and reading any handouts and letters
from their child. The singers will
be given all necessary information at the end of rehearsal and will be asked to
carry it home in their choir bag.
Whenever possible, emails will also be sent home. Please be alert to both
forms of communication.
2.
Parents are responsible for delivering their child
safely to rehearsal. Do not leave
your child unattended on campus.
Additionally, parents are responsible for promptly picking up their
singers. Failure to
comply will jeopardize the safety of the singer and may result in the child’s
dismissal from the program. Tuition will not be refunded.
3.
If your child is participating in Girl Choir and will be
driving themselves to campus, please send a note from a parent stating that you
are allowing your child to transport themselves to and from rehearsals which
will include walking across campus to and from the parking
location.
4.
Parents, please respect that rehearsals take place in a
professional, artistic, and learning environment. Noise in the hallways by groups of
adults or young children can be very disruptive and will reflect on the
children’s choir program.
5.
Parents, teachers, and anyone else interested are always
welcome to observe rehearsals.
Please remember that it is imperative that the choir’s surroundings be
quiet so that the singers can concentrate. If disturbances occur, the director
reserves the right to close that and subsequent rehearsals.
6.
Final dress
rehearsal and pre-performance rehearsals will always be closed to the audience,
including families. Only the
assigned chaperones will be allowed into the rehearsal area prior to a
performance. This will enable
the singers to concentrate on the music, the Director, and any final
instructions.
7.
Performance halls will remain closed to all audience
members, including parents, until 30 minutes prior to a scheduled concert.
