The best teaching tip I ever heard ... The top priority is always the character of the child and their relationship with the Lord. Teach them to be a learner, and if you miss a topic in their schooling that they need later, they'll know how to go find it. Walt once said, "What good is it to be a brilliant scientist, if you are a mad scientist?"

My favorite quick and nutritious dinner is ... "Hey, kids. Go fix dinner!" But when it falls upon me, I like to pull fish out of the freezer. Add corn bread and a green salad. If your husband doesn't keep you supplied with trout, try Sam's for the catfish. We love it.

My best household cleaning or organizational tip is ... Ugh. Not my strength. I'd far rather play than organize. But it is terribly frustrating to not be able to find things. My son Mike taught me a good lesson here. He had such a hard time taking care of his "stuff" when he was a little guy. It quickly became apparent that if he was ever to become faithful in much, he would have to learn to be faithful in little. Our key word is: Simplify. Get rid of the clutter.

I regain my perspective and sense of humor by ... Getting a good night's sleep.  It's amazing what fatigue does to unravel me.

Running the homeschool goes better when I remember to ... Pray, plan ahead, and to stay flexible to "interrupting" but teachable moments.

The spiritual exercise or devotion that is most helpful to me is ...
Certainly my daily time of prayer and scripture reading with the Lord. But aside from that, anything by Elizabeth Elliot and the audio tape by Gwen Shamblin, "Opposite World." If you haven't heard this one, go find someone who has attended the Weigh Down Workshop Bible study. It is excellent for keeping your focus on the eternal.
