MUSIC LESSONS AT THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN STATE COLLEGE -- Students may study any band or orchestra instrument with public school music teachers for free and participate in music ensembles at appropriate levels. Sign up by March 15 of each year for the following school year, but they also may take late registrations if you call the teacher at whatever school you are interested in. |

STATE COLLEGE MUSIC ACADEMY -- Reputable place to study most instruments and voice on W. College Ave. Also have a Suzuki program and free choir for kids aged 6-12. Tends to be more expensive but high quality teachers. Call 238-3451 |

NITTANY VALLEY CHILDREN'S CHOIR -- No auditions necessary, ages 6-16. Meets Sat. mornings. Kindergarten-Grade 2 meet 9:30-10:00 and Grades 3 and up at 10:15-11:00 am. Meets at Good Shepherd Catholic Church but is not church related. Geared for vocal development and quality repertoire including folk and international music and some sacred selections. I know the director and she is a mother of 3 and very excellent choir director and relates to kids very well. Call Lou Ann Shaffer at 237-2835. This program is highly recommended by many local homeschoolers. |

CONCERT OPPORTUNITIES -- Nittany Valley Symphony Family Concert -- Call for group rates early if interested as a group. Usually around $6.00 per ticket , I believe. the orchestra gives many other fine concerts throughout the year. |

PSU Faculty and Student Recital -- Usually of excellent quality and FREE! There are several each week and I highly recommend attending. Call Music Office at 865-0431 for schedule of events. Soloists, chamber music groups, orchestras, bands, choirs, operas, etc. This is a great opportunity for everyone. |

|
Ballet Schools in the area frequently give recitals and programs around the Christmas season and in the spring. One that I know of is the Nutcracker usually given by Ballet Theater of Central PA in December. The performance is very professional. |
