Because I am so thorough in this process, I realize I would not be the evaluator for everyone since many do not need or desire such an evaluation. However, for those who may be getting started in the process, I feel I have been particularly helpful as an encourager giving ideas which may be quite helpful. Also, for those who desire more complete feedback, I would be helpful.
I have attempted to shorten the time I spend on each evaluation and have found that because of my desire to be complete, I have not been satisfied with the results. I have now decided that I will specialize in working with those who want more than just a brief "satisfy the law" evaluation. Therefore, I will continue serving those I have seen in the past for a fee of 50 dollars. However, because of the demands on my time and the amount of time I put into my evaluations, for the 1999-2000 school year, I will begin charging a fee of 75 dollars per evaluation for new families.
I'm sure you have all been hearing the fantastic news' releases lately about the superior performances of home schooled students have been demonstrating on all tests required for college entrance. When we talk about it in the teacher's lounge, I love to express my positive view of home schooling which I have developed through these many years of doing evaluations.
