One must learn by doing the thing.
For though you think you know it,
you have no certainty until you try.
Sophocles (BC 495-406, Greek Tragic Poet)

This quote teaches a life lesson. The meaning is in order for me to learn how to do something, I must engage in doing it. I can read all the books I want and study all I want, but I won't learn it until I do it. A perfect example of this is when I started working for Starbucks. They gave me books on how to do my job correctly, how to make drinks and how to clean. I didn't get it completely until I actually started working and getting into the field. Some of the drinks are really hard to make, since it's to the customers preference. Some customers order their drinks with skim milk (non-fat milk), soy milk, or whole milk. My favorite drink to make is a Iced Caramel Macchiato. Depending on the size of the drink, this drink takes pumps of Vanilla syrup, cold milk, ice, shots of espresso, and Caramel sauce on top. If the shots are put in the drink before the ice, the drink is more like a Latte. There are a lot of steps that go into my job. When I read it on paper it sounded easy, but when i tried to make it, I messed up. I had to practice to prefect it. Saying something is a lot easier than actually doing it. 1
