The JavaScript Menu Component
by
Gary Smith
This is a demo of Gary Smith's menu
demo number 7. Roll your mouse over the table.
Cool, ain't it ;-?
Lately I've made some changes to this page. I'm
playing with the features:
- I've added a Back... item using the
Javascript history.go() method.
- I've added a Reload item using the
Javascript history.go() method. Simplifies life to use only one method.
- I made the menus static. That is, they won't
go away when you click outside them. Persistant little buggers, eh?
- Menus can be dragged around the window to
a location of your choice, but not the popped up one.
- I've included code so a menu displays as soon
as the page is loaded.
- I've changed the links so the
first requires a mouse click to activate, and the second you can roll over.
- If you activate the links, the new menu overrides
the original, popped up menu, but the thought is you can have the menu pop
up, and stay there by not providing any other access to the menu. Refreshing
the page will bring the pop-up back.
- I've now changed the 'src=' tag so only one
visible call is made to my menu script, and my menu script calls
Gary Smith's menu object library using the document.write method. Removes
one point of failure from the maintenance cycle.
