2002 Tia Mazzo Cup:
This was the first ever Tia Mazzo Cup. It was held in Brandon this year. The participants were Jason Hawkins, Chris Balharry, Leo Caronte, and Andrew Caronte.
The tournament is over the entire weekend. We total the scores for how ever many rounds we can get in. The lowest score at the end of the weekend wins the Green Jacket and the Tia Mazzo Cup. To make things even, Chris gives each participant strokes. This year Jason gets 18 strokes per round, Leo gets 16 per round and Andrew gets 20 per round.
In Brandon we managed to get in 2 rounds.
Day One:
We played the Glen Lea Golf course. This course was pretty nice. It
is very hilly. We brought a cooler filled with ice and many drinks.
It was a scorcher of a day. Very hot. We made some really good rules
during the day. One rule was that if you had a birdie put, you could
choose one of the other guys and if you made the put, they had to do a shooter
of either straight rum or rye. If you missed the put, however, you had to
do the shot yourself. There were many birdie puts throughout the day and
we all got pretty drunk. It was a great first day.
After the first round the scores were as follows:
Jason took the early lead with a net score of 75 (93 actual score minus 18
stroked that Chris gave him).
Leo was second with a net score of 77 (93 actual minus 16 strokes that Chris
gave him).
Andre and Chris were tied for last. Andrew shot a net 80 (100 - 20), and
Chris shot 80 (no strokes).
Day Two:
We played the Wheat City Golf course (formerly called the Brandon Rec
Center). This course was very nice. It was also very hilly.
This course also had water everywhere. The first hole is where most of the
pictures below were taken. It was another scorcher of a day.
After the final round the scores were as follows:
Chris played a very good round and shot 75 (no strokes).
Jason shat the bed with a round of net 85 (103 actual score minus 18 stroked
that Chris gave him).
Andrew played a decent round with a score of net 85 (105 actual score minus 20
strokes that Chris gave him).
Leo laid the biggest turd with final round of net 88 (104 actual minus 16
strokes that Chris gave him).

Tournament Summary:

BALHARRY!!!
Jason and Chris went into the last hole of the tournament tied. It was a
par 5. Chris hit his drive straight down the middle of the fairway.
Jason hit his to the left side into some trees. Jason went for the risky
2nd shot and tried to hit it through a narrow opening in the trees to try to
reach the green in 2 shot. His shot hit a tree, went out of bounds and he
ended up with a 10 on the hole.
