The process of genuine and original Son Mai art requires an extensive amount of time to produce a single piece of art, a wealth of expertise in understanding the lacquer process, and professional skills to create truly unique art compositions; as a result, traditional Son Mai artisans were becoming increasingly rare and Son Mai, art true to preserving its traditional form, was nearly lost to the world.
