Traveller Basics
----------------------------------------------------

Races:
-------
There are 6 choices-

Human - this is your average , normal human. 2d6 for
each stat.

Bwap - Bwaps are race of bipedal amphipians. They are
imperial citizens. Have lower Str and End

Darrians - Darrians are a minor human race living in
the Spinward Marches. They are tall, willowly, and
have pointy ears (Elves, anyone?). There are six
special careers for them

Aslan - These are a race of bipedal cats. Named after
the talking upright lion of CS Lewis's books.

Vargr - These are a race of bidepal dogs. Presumably
named after the noise they make. And no, they don't
chase Aslan.

Llewollewly - Essentially, walking, talking, sentient
dandelions. I'm not kidding. And yes, they hate people
blowing on their heads....

Stats:
-------
Stats are from 2-12, rolled on 2 six-sided dice
They can be modified upward or downward due to
Careers or Age.

Careers:
------------
Each character is in a career for what is called
'terms'. Each term is 4 years. During that period
of time, they learn a random skill. It's sort of
neat, because character genration becomes something of
a game.

Navy - The Character serves with the Space Navy, usually
aboard a starship

Army - The Character fights on the ground. Standard
Soldier.

Marines - The Character is a starship based soldier

Scouts - Scouts explore space in Scout ships, or often
just do routine mapping, etc

Merchants - Merchants go from planet to planet in
spaceships, carrying passengers and cago

Other - These seem to be criminals. Petty criminals, too

Athletes - This career come from Dragon magazine 86.
Basically, they are professional athletes - usually
they are in some sort of team sport - football, baseball
, or something more futuristic, Gravball, Rollerball,
Combat Biker, or Lasersurfing.

Pirate - These are people that hijack Starships.
Starjackers?

Belters - These are people that live in an Asteroid
Belt

Sailors/Wet Navy - These are people that hang around
on ships that sail in the water, or possibly, hover
/grav boats

career, now has some skills from High Guard

cataclysmic has happened to civilization, and people
are picking off the ruins.

Note on Darrian Careers:
-------------------------
You don't have to be a Darrian to be in a Darrian
career - you just have to live there. Some normal
humans and Aslan also live in the Darrian
Confederation.

The same goes for the Darrian race. They can be
in other careers.

Note on Vargr Careers:
-----------------------------
You don't have to be a Vargr to be in a Vargr career.
It probably makes more sense if you are, but the Vargr
do have a number of subject races, so it's conceivable
that an alien (or human) joins a Vargr career.

Mustering Out:
----------------
Once the player is satisfied with the characters
career (or rather, is worried about his or her age),
the character musters out. A character gets a number
of benefits rolls. These benefit rolls can be taken on
one of two table - Stuff, which is material stuff, and
cash, which is money.
