Guide Marching Song

Who are these, swinging along the road?

With a pack on the back, a song in the heart to ease the load.

It's been ninety years or more, since we crowded through the door

And we're coming along as gay and strong as ever we came before.

CHORUS:    We are Guides, all Guides and in unexpected places

You'll see our friendly faces and a ready hand beside.

And there's not much danger, of finding you're a stranger

for Commissioner or Ranger we are Guides, all Guides.

Who are these, sitting around the fire?

They’ll be happy to have your company, if that is your desire.

And the evening will be gay,  At the sunset hour of day

With a song to sing, a tale to tell,  And many a tune to play.

CHORUS

Who are these leaving the beaten track?

We are climbing high to the open sky and they won't turn back

You may join them where you will, For the gate is open still

And the Guides of today can find their way to the path across the hill.

CHORUS

We are Guides all Guides and at this moment you will find us.

With ninety years behind us and a steady heart besides.

For in need or danger, we're friends to every stranger

And as Brownie, Guide and Ranger, we are Guides, all Guides.

I've got that Girl Guide Spirit

I've got that Girl Guide spirit up in my head,

up in my head, up in my head!

I've got that Girl Guide spirit up in my head.

Up in my head to stay!

(Replace “Up in my head” with other words...)

2. Deep in my heart

3. Down in my feet

4. All over me

(Final Verse)

I've got that Girl Guide spirit up in my head,

Deep in my heart, down in my feet.

I've got that Girl Guide spirit all over me.

All over me to stay!

Everywhere We Go

(a repeating song)

Everywhere we go

People always ask us

Who we are

So we tell them

We are the Girl Guides

Mighty, mighty Girl Guides

(all together)

We are the Girl Guides and we couldn't be prouder

If you can't hear us now then we'll shout a little louder!

Repeat louder each time, the first verse is repeating the leader and the second is in unison. The last time through yell "you must be deaf!" instead of "we'll shout a little louder".

On My Honour

On my honour I will try

There's a duty to be done, and I say "aye",

There's a reason here, for a reason above

My honour is to try, and my duty is to love

People don't need to know my name

If I hurt someone, then I'm to blame

If I help someone, then I've helped me

And that's the way that it should be

I've tucked away a song or two

If you're feeling low, there's one for you

If you need a friend, then I will come

There's plenty more where I come from

Friendship is the strangest thing

If you keep it to yourself no reward will it bring

But you gave it away, and you gave it to me

And from now on, great friends we'll be.

Come with me where the fire burns bright

You can see much better by its own light

You can find more meaning in a campfire's glow

Than you'll ever find in a year or so

We've made a promise to always keep

We'll sing "Day is Done" before we sleep

We're Girl Guides together, and when we're gone

We'll still be a-trying and a-singing this song...

(repeat first verse)

Barges

Out of my window, looking in the night

I can see the barges flickering light.

Silently flows the river to the sea

And the barges too go silently.

Chorus:

Barges, I would like to go with you

I would like to sail the ocean blue.

Barges, have you treasures in your hold

Do you fight with pirates brave and bold?

Out of my window, looking in the night

I can see the barges flickering light.

Starboard shines green and port is glowing red

I can see them flickering far ahead.

Repeat Chorus
