CAMPS & HOLIDAYS

Plans are well underway for this year's camp.  We'll be spending a week under canvas at a site in Farnham.  We'll let you know what we get up to....

Seems Lyon's Copse just can't be beat!  We enjoyed another weekend camp there in January 2005.  Once again we had a full house of Guides and Leaders and a great time was had by all.  We earned our World Traveler and Holiday badges too!

May/June 2004 saw us camping under canvas again during the half term break.  This time we were at a fabulous site in Berkshire called Thatcham.  Although it rained for part of the week, our spirits weren't dampened at all.  One of the highlights of the week was when we each got to tie-dye a t-shirt.

The site at Lyon's Copse proved to be so good last year, that we decided to go there again.  We spent the last weekend in November 2003 participating in an Arts based Christmas camp.

During the half term week in May 2003, we went tent camping at Sandy Acres.  The weather was outstanding.  We thought we'd gone to some tropical island!  Everyone had tons of fun and earned badges too!

We recently enjoyed a weekend camp at Lyon's Copse.            (January 31 - February 2, 2003.)

A total of 25 girls and 5 leaders took part in the adventures.

We learned knots, knots and more knots!  Do you know what a pedigree cow's hitch is?  We do!  AND we know what it's used for too!

There are many different trail signs that can be used in laying a trail.  We learned some of them and then followed a trail that was set just for us.   Learning about camouflage and cover came in handy when we had to sneak up on our leaders in the forest.  Some girls blended in to their surroundings so well that they wore the evidence home!

Everyone enjoyed playing games too.  One of our favourites was the "Trade Places If..." game.  We also had a lot of fun with "Charades".

We will be adding pictures from our camp very soon, so don't forget to check back often.

This summer (August 2002), 15 Guides and 4 leaders went camping at Berwick St. James.

The theme of our camp was "SPACE".  Each tent patrol made their own space craft and had their own name.  We had UFO's, Shooting Stars and Space Invaders.  The leaders were the Clangers.

We had loads of fun doing lots of activities like candle making, treasure hunting and basket making.

We played lots of games like rounders and human pinball.  We sang lots of songs like ' Black Crow Spirit' and 'Martians, Attention'.

We spent one day in the nearby town of Salisbury.  After visiting the Cathedral, we divided into groups and went shopping for the midnight feast we would have later that night.  Once we met up again, we walked to the swimming pool and had even more fun there!  The pool had a water flume and a gigantic floating 'ice' obstacle course.

Everyone was also part of a work patrol and we all helped with all of the duties.  Some were more fun than others!  We kept our water supply full, collected wood for our cooking fire, prepared the meals and served them.  Of course we all had a turn at cleaning the toilets too.  YUCK!

Wonder where we're going next year...we can hardly wait!
