Today was the grand-opener for the Challenger Little League. Our team, the Cardinals, played the White Sox. Of course, we won....unless you ask them, they think they won! Brandon was the last batter, and amazingly, scored a triple, almost a homer! Actually it was technically a homer, technically a triple. That's one of the thinkgs about the Challenger league, any child can score a homer at any time. Brandon was headed home off of 3rd base, and stopped so that he wouldnt run over anyone, and they technically tagged him. They dont keep track of outs or homeruns, so it was technically a triple, technically a homer. They had a BBQ after the 2 games, BUTTTTTT it was freeeezing! We had bundled the kids up, and had bundled up ourselves, but were so cold we couldnt stand the thoughts of staying out in it for 5 more minutes! Bill and I just went ahead and donated the cost of our plates, and left so we could all get warm. The kids and parents are so hyped up this year. The coaches are amazing. They have great charisma with the kids. They laugh and joke around with them constantly. The little league has given us a good field to use as well. It is with the other teams. Players for the other little league teams have joined in with our teams this year to provide buddies for our teams. It is realy helpful because they can help point our kids in the right direction when they need to. Brandon's old teacher Mr. Lewis was there. Its so funny to see how his son and daughter have grown over the years. Brandon's other team mates from last 2 years were there as well. Ryan, Zachary, and Timothy are back. They have grown up so much!
Ok, it is nap time. We were up till after 11 last night, and had to get up at 7am this morning, without COFFEE THANKS TO BILL, so I think we are about exhausted.
More later..perhaps, oh yea, I am going to ttry to load more photos later from the game...You will notice that our base coaches were clowns, LITTERALLY!
