Our trip to visit the Shriner's Hospital was again awesome. They are the most kid-friendly medical facility I have ever seen! We got there and when you walk in there is a water fountain with a statue of a elephant and giraffe next to it. The walls have a "jungle/animal" mural painted ALL OVER it! It is beautiful. While there, Brandon was checked by an orthopedist. The orthopedist let us know that Brandon's spine is at a 15% curvature, which is actually OK for now. When it reaches 20%, they recommend having spinal surgery to prevent further "curving" which would mess with his breathing. He did recommend that Brandon have surgery to correct his feet though. We are trying to set that up. I was delighted to find that Brandon's lungs are working alot better than anticipated. He had not realy lost alot of lung function, which was surprising concidering he has not walked in almost a year. The physical therapist we saw says that after they work on Brandon's feet, they will attempt to use a stander with Brandon (after he heals and etc). If Brandon will be able to tolerate it, they will provide one for us to use at home, which will be a great help in preventing the decreased lung function, pressure sores, circulation problems, and secondary contractures that the seated position can and does cause.
Guess that is all for now. Keep us in your prayers.
