My Name is Kensington ... Forget Me Not
.

Kensington, My Vow

I know you, I'm sure you know me.
You're in the spirit world,
I'm standing for you on earth.
What they did to you,
They did to me.
You felt the terror and pain,
And I shadow with you.
The moment I heard,
It sent shock and tears,
To my soul,
And I vowed you'll never be forgotten.
I named you Kensington,
And I wrote you a song.
"My name is Kensington, forget me not."
I will live up to this,
Until I die and beyond.
We will meet in the spirit world,
And stay close to each other.
Just like I feel your presence,
I hold you safe in my arms on earth.
I'm sorry for what you went through.
I also feel guilty,
As if my out spoken ways led to your death.
Speaking out sometimes,
Can end up in a bad direction.
Those responsible for your cruel death,
They know who I am,
But I vow to you, Kensington,
They won't stop me from crying about your life.

This is one hell of cruel, confusing world.
Tell me Kensington,
Will hands and paws ever join together,
And have peace?
Life is short, how old were you?
Did you have a mama, a brother,
Or a child of your own?
Yes, Kensington I ask you this,
To respect you as a living being.
Though some may say,
"What, a cat...get over it!"
I tell them, watch the video,
And go home to your cat,
And hold him/her safe.

Kensington, I cannot imagine,
Your fear, helplessness, and loneliness.
What were these guys thinking?
How the hell can any living being be so cruel?
We wil never have answers, only tears.
Your death has affected us all over the world.
We hold on to each other,
For strength, and determination,
To avoid this ever happening again,
To the best we can.

Life is life,
Be human or be it an animal like you.
Respect has to imprint on the earth.
Kensington, animals suffer so much,
We've got a long way to go.
Exposing the truth,
About how our fellow creatures are treated.
Your death cannot and will not be erased,
Nor in vain, only may save another.
So I hope you understand,
We want cruelty to animals to end.

I ask you to stay close to me,
And travel my journey,
Speaking of you, expressing pain, teaching the rights,
And acknowledging the wrong.
I really know you are here,
Protect us all from harm.
It's a grieving world to swallow,
But where is there peace?
The spirit surrounds you from this face.
Curl up with all our love and promise.
Your name is Kensington.
Forget you not,
This is my vow.

In memory and dedication to Kensington the Cat.
