Doc held as gallery damaged

A 65-year-old doctor upset over cruelty to animals allegedly smashed a door window yesterday at a gallery that has come under fire for its ties to a man accused of animal torture.
Dr. George Cantlie is accused of smashing the window after an argument with Jubal Brown, a director of the avant-garde Art System gallery, at about 1 p.m.
"I was very angry, I intended to make trouble with the owner," Cantlie said.
Vandalism has plagued the gallery since Brown and fellow director Daniel Borins attended a bail hearing for Jesse Power and Anthony Ryan Wennekers, who are accused of skinning a live cat, purportedly as a work of art.
Brown said he was in court to support a friend who has contributed to the gallery.
Cantlie faces a charge of mischief under $5,000.
