The Crown is appealing the sentence given to Jesse Power in the infamous cat mutilation case

Toronto - Animal activists are heartened to hear that the Crown is appealling the lenient sentence given to Mr. Jesse Power, aged 22, on April 18, 2002 by Justice E.F. Ormston in the infamous cat mutilation case that has received international attention.

There is hope that justice could be served to the extent possible now.

"We thank the Ministry of the Attorney General for appealing this case. Having an appeal is the only right thing to do with respect to Kensington's pain. This is also sending out a message that crimes against animals will be considered more seriously," said Suzanne Lahaie, co-founder of Freedom for Animals.
