Spanish Language Programs

Standard Spanish Language Program

        
As part of a larger process of Spanish training, only one  week is required to begin speaking Spanish. We offer Spanish language training for every level, from beginners to advanced students. Our placement exam will help you to find out at which level or sublevel you are. Start at the beginners level and finish in the advanced level classes.  Programs are available from as short as one week to up to three months.Begin anytime at any level.     

We recommend to take between three and five classes per day. Each class has a maximum of five students (private classes are also available).

The following courses are available:

 20 different Grammar Courses, Structured Conversation Courses, Culture, Literature, Legends, Politics, Mexican History, Business Culture, Mexican Cooking, Dance

 

Intensive Spanish for Travelers


An intensive course designed to last one or two weeks. This course will equip you with a strong set of survival skills. Recommended for beginners, intermediate and advanced students.Ideal for people that need to learn to communicate in specific contexts (restaurants, hotels, bus stations…) and for people who need to expand their ability to understand Spanish and express themselves in Spanish.

**Four hours per day, one on one classes or classes of at most three students.**

 

Plus Program


A Spanish language and cultural immersion course to optimize the learning of Spanish. The Plus is designed to include 5 hours of one-on-one classes plus an hour in a group daily. It runs for 3 intensive weeks and students at any level are welcome to join this program.

Trimester Program


Our Trimester program starts three times a year. You can begin in January, April or September. Each program runs for 12 weeks. The Trimester Program is offered for students who are looking for long term instruction in Guanajuato for an economical price. You can take this program on three different levels. The day of your arrival we will give you a placement exam to determine your level. Each day you will receive three hours of instruction. Below you will find an example of how your schedule could be structured.

 **Ten students maximum per class. All Trimester students have an option of taking cooking or dance classes for two hours per week.**

Childrenīs Program@Escuela Mexicana

Available from one week to three months.

-Classes are divided by age: 3 to 6 years old, or 7 to 9 years old and 10 and over.
-Classes for three to five hours per day. 

Furthermore, we offer from July 15 to August 15 a Children`s Program at the Casa de la Cultura. There, your children will not only be able to learn Spanish but furthermore, meet Mexican children and experience a cultural immersion. La Casa de la Cultura is famous for its Folk Dance and Theater Classes. In addition, it also offers Drawing and Art Classes.

 

Cooking ClassWhat should you know about the school?

 Escuela Mexicana uses the communicative teaching approach. Classes are taught in Spanish by native speakers. Small class sizes ensure that students receive personal attention and intensive interaction with instructors. Classes incorporate:

  • -materials (we have developed our own work books) and activities that reflect real-life situations
  • -interaction and learning exchange among students and native speakers
  • -activities that integrate reading, speaking, listening, and writing
  • -role play and dramatization.

Classes run Monday through Friday. Most students start classes Monday, but you may begin classes any weekday. Your first day of class is a pilot day, at the end of which we can adjust your schedule as needed. Placement exams will be given to students with some knowledge of Spanish. Private instruction is also available.

 

Lodging is also available at the school. We offer clean, comfortable, dormitory-style rooms with shared or private bath, hot water 24 hours a day, daily room service, and kitchen use. We also have a comfortable apartments available. Furthermore,   Escuela Mexicana can arrange a homestay for you with a local Mexican family that three meals per day.

 

Excursions and Extracurricular ActivitiesDancing Class

 We think that a good language program should not only focus on the language aspect. In addition, it should offer the student an environment to feel well. We at Escuela Mexicana are very concerned about the studentīs well being. Therefore, we offer a variety of excursions and extracurricular activities.

 Excursions are organized by the school depending on studentīs interest. We plan trips to cities like San Miguel de Allende, Pátzcuaro, Morelia, León, and Dolores Hidalgo.

Extracurricular activities:

 

  • Intercambio--This weekly gathering allows students to practice Spanish with local Spanish speakers in an informal social setting.
  • Free movie night--Watch a movie in Spanish and discuss it afterwards with instructors and fellow students.
  • Free table games--Try your hand at Pictionary, cards, bingo, and more.
  • Guided city tours for free
  • Guided, trips to cultural activities such as concerts and local events

 In addition to all that, the school offers some more services:

  • Grammar workbooks developed by our teachers
