Project 1

Generating Toolpaths Using Mastercam Software

This step consists of first transferring the AutoCAD file to a STEP file so it can be opened using Mastercam. After the file has been transferred the next step is to position the part to where the origin can easily be found using the CNC mill. Then a bounding box to show the raw stock size is added before the toolpaths can be generated.

Butt Plate

Pistol Rest

Next the toolpaths were added to the program by clicking on the toolpaths option on the side toolbar. Then click on the contour option and start selection the entities that the toolpath needs to run. After this has been done a contour box will appear on the screen. In this box as seen below the tool parameters and the contour parameters are set for the toolpaths.

 Butt Plate Toolpaths

 Pistol Rest Toolpaths

After the toolpaths has been completed for the butt plate and the pistil rest the next step is to generate the code for the Mazak milling machine using CIMCO Edit software. To do this the first step is to click on the toolpaths option on the sidebar then click on the operations option, and an operations manager box will appear. In this box the next step is to click on the post option and save the code as an NC file.
