These are full-size screenshots of MacMAME 0.77u2a to compare the effect of "arcade mode with overlay pixel scaling" to "normal arcade mode."
Legend:
Overlay used with SWAT is "Beehive Vertical with Scanlines."
Overlay used with SEAWOLF2 is "Realistic Horizontal."
Overlay used with rotated SWAT is "Realistic Horizontal." You really have to view the screenshots at the resolution they were captured at in order to make an honest evaluation, especially the pictures of 1600x1200 and higher. They don't look as blurry when viewed on a monitor capable of displaying the pic at the original native resolution, but this too depends on the game.
