Interview with Ancalagon the Black of
Ok to commence this interview can you introduce the band?
"Crebain is: Ancalagon the Black-all instruments, vokills & drum programming."

Is being a one-man band difficult for ou, such as writing music and lyrics?
"It does take a bit more time to get things done, especially when trying out new parts. I'm not able to tell a drummer 'paly this beat for a few measures, and then blast for...'etc; I have to program parts beforehand to know if the riff or arrangement is even going to work. And lyrics are always the hardest part; I spend much more time on them than the actual music. Ultimately though, doing everything myself is well worth the extra effort as I alone have the vision for Crebain & prefer to have complete control."

What type of Black Metal does Crebain produce? What are Crebains lyrical themes?
"Raw yet melodic, straightforward Black Metal strongly influenced by the legends of Norway, France, & Germany, as well as some of the old-school thrash that I was raised on. Crebain's lyrics are fueled by depression & hate, primarily anti-christian, and often have themes of murder, suicide & revenge."

Does Crebain have political view points in its music.?
"Not particularly, as Crebain is certainly not NS. I have no problem listening to NSBM, but I don't share all of the same beliefs. I do believe in Social Darwinism, and that there are unworthy subhumans among us but I don't believe that the definition of 'subhumans' should necessarily be based on race. I judge people by their actions, work ethic, acceptance of responsibility, etc. These beliefs do occasionally come through in Crebain's lyrics, as in 'Cold Black Heart'."

What are the things or bands that influence Crebains music?
"I'm always angry or depressed to some degree, and that is the main influence/reason that I do Crebain. As far as bands definitely Darkthrone, Vlad Tepes, Carpathian Forest, Moonblood & Nargaroth are the main ones. Also film scores & Eastern European folk melodies are drawn from."

Will we in the future see session musicians in Crebain for some live performances? If not, why?
"A live band is in the works, although I don't know exactly when it come to pass. Perhaps by the end of 2004..."

Were you in any bands before Crebain?
"I played guitar in a short-lived band called Gauderon Dherg. We were only together for about 6 months & only recorded one 3-song rehersal without vocals. Good shit, though!"

I would like to thank Ancalagon the Black of Crebain for taking time in doing this interview.

Well that about wraps this interview but before you go are there any last words that you would like to say?
"Fuck you Jesus Christ, and all of your followers. Your time is fucking done..."
