Interview with
Hails, how's it going?
"Hello, things are fine here."

Aurvandil is fairly new, can you tell us a bit about the band?
"Aurvandil was created by an immature desire to play music, in 2006. I hope that today, the immature taint is gone. Ongoing."

Any news on upcoming material? Last I heard of Aurvandil was the Futile Demo 2007, will it still be released as tape format and by who?
"It was released on tape, limited to 100 copies a couple of weeks ago on the french label Ars Funebris Records: http://www.everyoneweb.fr/arsfunebris/
http://www.myspace.com/arsfunebrisrecords
As for the upcoming material: we are planning a vinyl split release with Blood Rising (a black metal band with a cold industrial atmosphere,
http://www.myspace.com/bloodrising). It will feature two songs from Aurvandil,  of which demos were recorded. I have yet to record them properly. The debut album's recording is postponed, but I'd say that you can expect it late 2009/early 2010. Sooner, hopefully."

Futile Demo 2007. Why demo? There is enough material there to call it a full-length. The production is good as well.
"Haha, thanks for your kind words but, in my opinion, there is no doubt why this a a mere demo: bad production, worse drum machine, unfinished songs...Even the length (aprrox 40 minutes) doesn't it as a full-length. No, this is just a compilation of ideas...some to be used in the future."

To me when listening to the Aurvandil material, it sounds melancholic. What theme are presented to us when we listen to Aurvandil?
"Aurvandil's goal is to induce or provoke feelings on the listener. The themes are varied, ranging from winter to solitude, to astral projections or nature..."

Has Aurvandil been a one man black metal band since the beginning or where there others contributing to the band? Do you plan on adding members, at least for some live shows?
"Aurvandil always was a one man band, but I plan to have some people to participate, mainly a drummer. I have found just the right man to drum for Aurvandil, as we share similar views on black metal and music in general, and I hope we will be able to record soon. We have now to deal with schedules, studio stuff etc...One of the many problems of having a band."

I'm pretty sure you get this a lot but I would like to get a 100% confirmation fromt he band....Did Tchernobyl 75666 really screw you over?
"He did, whatever he may say to try to convince himself or others. Every once in a while, he comes out of nowhere and tells me I'll get my cds soon. But now, couldn't care less."

I read online "Aurvandil was ripped off by the Tchernobyl 75666 member and never really saw the final product." What I would like to know is wouldn't the label who released it be at fault for not handing you over your copies? Was Nuclear Devestation ever released, if so by who?
"The split was originally released on Lokisson Records, and I do not hold Tommy as being faulty; I understand that it cost to send a large amount of cd by mail. But if he had sent them to me, there would have been no incident. The quoted sentence is now a bit obsolete, as Noktorn from NTR kindly offeref me a copy of the split (that he carries in his [excellent] distro). So in conclusion, I couldn't care less about this split, and I don't want it to be remembered."

Ever since the incident mentioned above, have you encountered any other problems of that sort?
"No problems of that sort."

Well that wraps up the interview. I would like to Thank Aurvandil for taking the time to participate with Sinister Webzine. The last words are yours.
"Thank you for your time and interest."
