COTTAGE POSITION AND SURROUNDINGS
3 Aros Mains is a semi-detached, single storey cottage in an excellent central position on the Isle of Mull, just out of the village of Salen. It is at the end of a quiet spur road leading to the ruins of Aros Castle, the ancient seat of the Lord of the Isles. The cottage with enclosed garden/lawn has beautiful scenic views, both over the Sound of Mull to the South and westward towards the peak of Ben More, Mull's only Munro. Due to the cottage's convenient central location, it is ideal for visiting the whole island. Due to excellent visibility of the sea from the cottage, several visitors have seen dolphins from the living room, and one visitor even spotted a basking shark.

DIRECTIONS
From the Craignure ferry, turn right and proceed 10 miles to Salen. Drive through Salen 1 mile in the direction of the principal town of Tobermory. Turn right at the sign for Aros Mains and drive half a mile down this spur road. 3 Aros is the first cottage on the left. Parking is private and directly outside the cottage gate on the left.

GETTING AROUND
The principal town of Tobermory is just 10 miles north of Aros. It is simple to find by car; just take a right turn from the Aros Mains spur road and carry on straight until you reach the Tobermory signs. There are also regular buses to Tobermory which will pass by the spur road, and timetables for these can be obtained from the Tourist Office in Craignure. To reach the small village of Dervaig, take the left turn shortly before the Aros Mains turning. It is easy to locate, and well signposted, around 10 miles down this road. To get to the Ross of Mull, and the island of Iona, in addition to villages such as Bunessan and Fionnophort, simple take the opposite turn from the Craignure ferry, and carry straight on. This route will take you down the scenic glen road and directly through the tiny village of Pennyghael until you reach the Ross.
