Specializing in Fischer's Lovebirds

This is "Rainbow", a Normal Green Fischer's Lovebird.  She was hatched on August 15, 1996 and handfed by candle light during an 8 day power outage resulting from Hurricane Fran.  She's very tempermental, although, she loves kisses.  Rainbow enjoys going to bird club meetings and being the center of attention!  Her color resembles that of a "wild caught" Fischer's Lovebird.  When exhibiting, you would not want a yellow band on the chest.

The Fischer's Lovebird was discovered by Dr.G.A. Fischer on his expedition from Pangani to Lake Victoria, Africa and named in his honor by Reichenow in 1887.  Fischer's should be caged separate from other species of lovebirds so that hybridization does not occur. As breeders, we must set our standards high and breed for the best!

I work with various mutations of Fischer's Lovebirds with concentration on the nominate and the yellow (dilute green).  I strive to keep the species pure and do not split any color mutations to our normal greens.  It is important to remember that the base of any good breeding program is a quality line of normal green.  With the abundance and variety of mutations available today, it is no longer necessary to cross the species.  Therefore, it is important to keep the gene pools clean and preserve the species for future generations!

I also work with Pacific Parrotlets and a quality line of Cockatiels.
