Being Blameless

I am trying to run away from the past,  and I'm now realizing that there is "karma" involved.   No matter how hard I try to put the past behind me,  the fact that there are things to be resolved stand in the way.

For one,  I'm unemployed and I'm at that point where I have to make some serious decisions in my life.   No matter how much I can think positively about becoming successful,  the fact that I'm struggling right now is reason enough to worry financially.

I don't blame anyone.   One reaps what one sows...   Things just happen sometimes as well,  and it's all a part of the ebb and flow of life,  whether positive or negative.   There are some things that are out of one's hands because of the current situation one is in,  and there are also actions to take in order to resolve certain obstacles.   And this is all a part of the transitions in life.

I had a wonderful Father's Day weekend.   I was basically happy and content most of the time,  despite the financial worries.

My two sons made me some cards with the following messages:

From my ten year old...

"Hey Dad,  I love you and I hope you like this."

My seven year old had more to say...

"My dad's name is ______.   He works at night,  and is sleepy at day.   I love my dad because he is nice."

Interesting words from my two sons.   But I was proud of them and I cherish what they said.

The phrase "being blameless" seems simple enough to understand,  but pondering over what those two words actually mean brings about very profound feelings.   To be blameless is to show forgiveness,  and even in Christianity there are many examples of "turning the other cheek",  or "to forgive us of our sins" and so forth.

The intent is to show compasion for our fellow brothers and sisters,  not to set ourselves apart in indifference.

I suppose these concepts are to idealistic for the everyday world,  of reality.

As the Buddha said,  "life is suffering".   And the reality of life is too crude for someone like the Buddha.   But compassion is the key...
