T h a n k s g i v i n g D a y 2:30AM On my way home from the Music City gig in Fountain Valley, I started falling asleep at the wheel. I made a point to play it safe and pull over somewhere and get some rest. I pulled into this shopping center in Carlsbad, into this lighted area where I thought it was safest. I reclined the seat after turning off the engine and drifted off to sleep... 4:30AM I woke up, realizing I was still in a parking lot in Carlsbad. Noticed that it was 4:30AM. I felt quite rested after that brief bit of sleep. I drove home feeling a lot better and confident I wouldn't fall asleep behind the wheel again. I got home, changed and prepared for bed. My wife had the two kids sleeping with her again in our bedroom. We both decided to transfer to the guest room and sleep there, giving the two boys domain over our king-size bed! I quickly drifted off to dreamland.
I woke up in the guest room to the sounds of my sister-in-law and her family as they walked through our front door. It was all joyous... a re-union for my wife and her sister. I just had to transfer to the master bedroom and catch some more 'ZZZZ's. I finally woke up and decided to take a shower, get ready and meet up with our Thanksgiving guests. After all the socializing and catching up on what everyone had been up to. Drove around, doing a few errands and buying a few last minute things for Thanksgiving. Went to Starbucks for a Cafe Mocha. Then headed home! Socialized with our guests, my wife's family. I cooked some Salmon steaks on the grill. We had Thanksgiving Lunch! Turkey, Grilled Salmon, mashed potatoes, apple pie, cranberry sauce, gravy, etc, etc. I surprisingly didn't eat as much as I've eating in past Thanksgivings. I truly ate in moderation but afterwards I still needed a nap and drifted off into oblivion! 05:00PM Had the Thanksgiving Dinner, finally! Took pictures. Then I went over to my parents house for more turkey and food to eat. By that time I was pretty stuffed. I guess I really didn't eat that much compared to previous Thanksgivings, and for some reason I really didn't have a huge appetite for the food this time. And I pretty much stayed away from all the fattening foods and selectively ate healthy for a change. This was good, considering all the 'sinful' food that can be found on a Thanksgiving dinner table. All in all, it was a day of reflection and I was thankful for many, many things, but mainly I was thankful for being alive. Currently Reading:
