New Coaches to Bolster CV Staff

Several new coaches will be joining Head Coach Jeff Veeder's Cougar Football staff this season. Most will be on the defensive side of the ball.

Jay Noonan will move from Head Freshman Coach to a position as Varsity Running Backs Coach. Coach Noonan is a graduate of USC, and bleeds Cardinal and Gold.

Jim Oconnell, who has coached at Aliso Viejo for the past six years, will be the Defensive Line Coach for the Cougars.

Matt Evans comes to us from Laguna Beach High School, and will coach defensive backs. He is a graduate of Corona Del Mar H.S., where he played for Dave Holland.

Penn Bushong is from Murieta Valley H. S. Coach Bushong is a graduate of Mission Viejo H.S., and will coach the inside linebackers.

Returning, on a full time basis, is Outside Linebackers Coach Wendell Simmons. Coach Simmons is graduated from St. Paul H.S.

Mike Gonzales will become Head Freshman Football Coach for the Cougars this year. If you heard Coach Gonzales' speech at last year's Varsity Banquet, you will know that the young Cougars are left in very good hands. Coach Gonzales is a graduate of El Toro H.S., and San Jose State University.
