HEC TO SELL EASEMENTS ON PRIVATE LANDS - HOBART -17-7-98
The HEC (Hydro Electric Commission) will transfer its rights in easements over
private land to any new purchaser of the poles and wires in the proposed realization of the HEC asset.
A spokesman for the Department of Energy, Mr Lionel Wells said that he was "99%" sure that
if Hydro easements were already in existence then those easements would be transferred to the
new owners.
The Liberal government has made its position quite clear that if it wins the
August state election then it intends to lease its power generation capacity for a 99 year
period and sell of the HEC poles and wires to a new owner.
