Dorado Software: Writing user's and programmer's guides for a Java-based application framework (Redcell / Oware). Winner of Dorado's You Rock award for excellence. Replaced five other writers in a downsizing.
Agilent Writing technical design documents for migration from legacy customer and supplier care systems.
Objective Systems Integrators: Writing software reference manuals, online help,
Acrobat documents, and
user's guides. OSI makes object-oriented 4GL programming products to
manage large networks. Their customers include AT&T, Sprint, TelMex and
MCI. Won two Society for Technical Communications awards ("Merit" and
"Excellence") for OSI manuals.
First Nationwide Bank (now Citibank) network user's guides and policy
manuals.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
2000 - present
Dorado Software - Write users' and programmers' guides for a Java-based application and its APIs. This application, Redcell, manages network and telecommunications equipment. It has both a Java and web client, and creates a database (Oracle or MySQL). As a writer, I replaced a much larger department, yet kept up with the work. My tasks include producing cross-platform, modular Oracle Help helpsets, and creating manuals in both PDF and HTML from a single source. Created "translation" templates to automate producing documents for Dell (a Dorado client) that look like Dell's, not Dorado's formatting while maintaining the same single-source content. Created HTML and PDF versions of the Dell-formatted documents from this source, although the appearance of both reflects Dell's standards.
2000
Agilent - Contract work, documenting migration from HP's legacy systems worldwide to the Vantive/Passage system. Produced Microsoft Word documents, and managed their intranet distribution. Managed teams of analysts producing component documents.
1996-2000
Objective Systems Integrators - Senior Technical Writer. In additional to editing software reference and user guides, created and maintained web pages, Acrobat and HTML online help.
