                   Jewish Settlement in Israel
                    Violates American "Policy"

Secretary of State James Baker the third, (one would have been too much), is to be
commended upon his ability to double talk before Congress with a straight face. How
benevolent he sounds in his glib referrals to all the monies the United States has already given
to the Jewish State. One would think that he and Bush were kindly old keepers of Federal
funds which they, out of the kindness of their hearts, gave as charity to the Jewish State.
Now, we, ungrateful paupers, are back knocking on the door again for another handout.
Such is the demagoguery of genuine anti-Semites. Not one penny of American aid
is given to any country (including the seven billion dollar DEBT, not loan guarantee, forgiven
to Egypt) without the approval of the government of the United States. And no such aid is
ever given unless it is believed to serve the interests of the American government.
The real zinger is when Baker evoked United States nationalism, stars and stripes
and apple pie, as the reason why it is unreasonable for Israel to request the mere guarantee of
a bank loan without yielding to the demands of the United States on where in Israel Jews may
or may not live!
Now any person with half a brain can understand that all countries act in their own
interests, and formulate policies which promote those interests. It is absurd to suggest that
any country can have a "policy" to determine where citizens of another country should be
restricted from living! The Secretary referred to a "policy" of the United States not to
recognize the right of Jews to live in Judea and Samaria. That is not a "policy", rather a view.
It has become a new policy of the Bush administration to go beyond stating a view.
This new policy is one which is attempting to force Israel to accept its view and implement a
policy which is contrary to this country's self interest. By holding back on this loan guarantee,
on the condition that we change our national policy, Bush is blatantly interfering in the internal
affairs of the Jewish State to its detriment. He is using our humanitarian desire to settle Jewish
refugees in our country (thus saving the United States the burden of accepting them on its
shores) to coerce Israel into relinquishing her rights to her own homeland!
No country has the right to tell another country where its capital is located, nor
where it restrict its citizens from taking residence within that country. For James Baker to
claim that Israel's request for her ally, America, to guarantee a bank loan to absorb Jewish
refugees somehow violates American "policy" not to recognize Jewish rights to Judea and
Samaria, is nothing short of an arrogant attempt to justify his coercion of the Jewish State to
act against her own self-interests!
The day is rapidly approaching, which all Jewish ostriches have feared. The
interests of the United States of America are beginning to conflict with those of the Jewish
State. By all means we should strive to avoid such conflict. But let us recognize our own
limits and know when to say "NO".
Under no circumstances does any Israeli government have the right to negotiate the
existence of this country. It matters not whether the threat comes from so called "Palestinian"
elements which exist only to destroy the Jewish State, or from "friends" who have their own
political interests to advance which happen to conflict with ours.
