                      An Obscene Comparison

Dear Ms. MacKinnon,

In a recent letter printed by you from a David R. Fink, concerning the hypocrisy of
American foreign policy, a comparison was made between the aggression of Saddam Hussein,
and Israeli "aggression on Arab lands".
As one who lives in Israel and on that very land which the writer glibly refers to as
"Arab lands", I would like to set the record straight.
First of all, Saddam Hussein is an Arab dictator who has been trying for years to
compile a nuclear arsenal capable of destroying the Jewish State-- an aim which he has
verbalized on numerous occasions. George Bush intervened in his takeover of Kuwait solely
for the purpose of protecting the oil interests of the United States. Had the American
president been more prudent, he would have quietly allowed the IDF to handle Saddam
quickly and far more efficiently than the world powers did. Now, although Kuwait has been
wrested from Saddam's clutches, the dictator of Iraq is still in power, is still accumulating
weapons of mass destruction, and has murdered thousands of his own Kurdish population
without a peep of condemnation from the Bush administration, much less armed intervention
to save the lives of the victims of Bush's military "rescue" of Kuwait.
To as much as suggest some kind of correlation between the military takeover of a
sovereign nation to satisfy the greed of the Iraqi dictator, with Israel's surprise defeating of
nations who attempted to wipe her off the map in 1967 is, to say the least, an obscene
perversion of fact. Perhaps the "aggressive" Israelis should have permitted her enemies to
annihilate her.
Secondly, none of the lands acquired by Israel in 1967 can be legally considered
"Arab lands". These lands, and much more which are still in Arab hands, are clearly Jewish
properties which were illegally taken from the Jewish nation. The Arab refugees who were
living in Israel during wars of aggression against the Jewish State by Arab countries, while
being given financial, medical, educational and physical aid by the Jewish State, have been
manipulated by the Arab world to become an object of "Israeli oppression".
Never in world history has there been a country called "Palestine". All Arabs who
call themselves "Palestinians" are really refugees from other Arab countries who now, rather
than be grateful for Israeli friendship, choose to reward it by attempting to create a new Arab
nation and plant it on top of the Jewish State.
Mr. Fink, whose mind is clearly "blowing in the wind", has a very warped
understanding about what makes American foreign policy work. Bush attacked Saddam to
protect American oil interests, not the Kuwaiti people. He doesn't give a fig about either
Israeli or Arab human rights. As to your suggestion to bomb Tel Aviv; when Bush perceives
such action to be in the interest of the United States I am sure he would do it.
Speaking for myself, I do not seek any American tax dollars. I would much prefer
that the United States cease all financial aid to Israel. The Jewish State came into being, not
to be a pawn of the United States or any other world power. Her existence was designed to
be proof of the existence of the G-d of Israel. As the final redemption approaches we will see
all the nations of the world assembling against this tiny nation in fulfillment of Biblical
prophesy. This country has never started a war. We have always held out our hand in peace
and friendship to our enemies only to have them spit in our face. But the day of reckoning is
coming, and I, who live in Hebron, have no doubt as to how it will turn out.
