                    The Real King of Israel

President Clinton charmed all of Israel on his recent visit here. He made it clear that he
stands behind Israel in her quest for peace and will support her in every way that he can.
I have little doubt that the President is sincere. The problem is that Rabin cannot
believe him. Rabin is convinced that, no matter how much the President of the United States
claims that he supports Israel, the only way to keep those dollars coming in is to deny our
Divine inheritance. He thus has appealed to the President to help him give away the Golan
Heights as well as Judea and Samaria. Had he acted upon the President's word, and Jewish
self respect, Rabin would have humbly told the President that the Jewish State cannot give
away that which was given to it by the Creator of the Universe. This would have been
understood and respected by the President who is a believing Christian and is well aware of
G-d's Promise to our Father, Abraham.
How is it that the foreign minister of Syria, clearly and unequivocally, declares that no
country in the world would ever consider giving up on one millimeter of its sovereign
territory, and this is accepted by all, yet the United Nations, the entire world, and even our
own Jewish leaders, all "understand" the need for Israel to give up her sovereign territory,
deeded to her in the Bible and paid for in Jewish blood, for "peace"? Why Israel? By what
convoluted reasoning can anyone imagine that "peace" will shine down on this good Earth if
only little Israel will cut herself up into tiny little pieces and distribute them to her various Arab
enemies? Where in the history of nations has such an equation ever been suggested?
The nations threaten us and tell us that they will refrain from destroying us if we begin
to destroy ourselves, and our "visionary", "courageous" leaders rush to tighten the noose
around our necks, for "peace".
As nice and fair and charming as the American president may be, he clearly endorses
this ridiculous formula of Israel giving away pieces of our homeland in return for paper
promises of peace, made by nations who cannot even make peace among themselves!
Mr. Clinton, after meeting with the most sadistic Arab leader of all, Assad of Syria,
acted as his messenger to Israel. He told us how much Assad wants to make peace and needs
to regain the entire Golan Heights to do so. He also told us how much the Syrian dictator
hates terror. Clinton told us that Assad condemns all acts of terror against innocent civilians,
both in Tel Aviv and in Hebron.
This was a blatant slap in the face and no one seemed to notice. How dare anyone
attempt to equate a dastardly act of cold blooded terror on the passenger bus in Tel Aviv with
the courageous attack against Jew haters in Hebron who used our Machpelah building to
incite thousands to massacre Jews in the name of Allah? Clinton delivers Assad's message
equating Jewish self defense with Arab terror and we quietly accept the double standard. I
understand Assad, and maybe even Clinton. But where is the Jew? Where is our pride... our
self respect... our sense of justice and fair play... our survival instinct?
Last Shabbat, as we read the Torah portion describing how Abraham purchased the
Cave of Machpelah as a burial place for his wife, Sarah, Jews were barred from entering the
empty building by our own Jewish government. How telling it is that the Arabs, who have no
rightful claim to the building, no authority to decide anything, and are vulnerable to the whims
of a Jewish government, are unafraid to openly declare that they don't want Jews to pray in
"their" mosque.
The reason they speak so boldly is because we have taught them to do so. By taking
the exact same stand on the holiest Jewish site in the world, our Temple Mount in Jerusalem,
look at what they have accomplished. Not only have we failed to rebuke them and kick them
off our mountain, we have enforced their threats against us and our government physically
prevents Jewish prayer from taking place there!!!
Until we learn self respect from our enemies, and hold our holy places and our
sovereignty over our land at least as dearly as they hold their's, we can expect more suffering.
As I was standing in the strong sunlight with countless other Jewish worshipers outside
of the Machpelah building, I was called upon for the honor of raising up the Torah scroll.
What a special thrill it was to realize that, of all the scrolls being read that morning, this one
was the scroll written in memory of Rabbi Meir Kahane, z"tl, and commissioned by Dr.
Baruch Goldstein, z"tl. To me it was, once again, a sign from Baruch. As I sat there holding
the scroll as the words of the prophet were read, those words rang clearly in my ears. It was a
story of Jewish leadership of ancient Israel.
King David's son, Adoniyah, wanted to be king after his father. He didn't care that the
throne had been promised to his brother, Shlomo. As David lay on his deathbed Adoniyah
gathered his supporters and declared himself King of Israel.
The fact is that Adoniyah was, indeed, a son of David the King. He also was able to
put together a respectable backing among the people and high ranking officials. What he was
lacking was confirmation from the King and approval from the G-d of Israel. Despite his
power and ability to manipulate the political powers of his day, he failed to achieve his
objective.
Today we have another individual who thinks that he can make himself King of Israel.
He has taken advantage of a twisted and self serving political system in Israel to bargain his
way into power while effectively sidestepping genuine democracy and openly opposing Jewish
destiny.
Just as the powerful and clever Adoniyah failed in his attempt to seize control of Israel,
Rabin and his cohorts will soon discover that there is a greater power than they which rules
over Israel... and it isn't the President of the United States.
Every time Rabin seeks to undo the miracle of Jews returning to all parts of our
homeland, he brings further tragedy upon his country. Every time he turns to another Arab
leader and offers to give away more and more of our Divine inheritance, not only does he fail
to bring "peace", rather he brings us ever closer to a more devastating war than this country
has ever known.
But just as the powerful prince, Adoniyah, failed to wrest the Kingdom of Israel from
his brother, Shlomo, so too will Rabin, the latest pretender to the throne of Israel, soon be
replaced with the genuine King of Israel who will undo all of his disastrous errors and return
pride, self respect and Jewish sovereignty to all of Eretz Yisrael, b'ezrat HaShem.
