More Perfidy in the Name of "Peace"
                     by Gary M. Cooperberg
                         August 1, 1994

It was an historic moment. Once again Israel was showing the world how to make
peace. With all the fanfare which accompanies a gala celebration at the White House, King
Hussein and Yitzchak Rabin shook hands and agreed to make peace between their respective
nations. Both leaders addressed Congress and evoked standing ovations in response to truly
moving addresses. Rabin, in a pathetic attempt to invoke Divine approval to this desecration
of Jewish self respect, donned a scull cap and enunciated a Hebrew blessing, omitting the
reference to majesty, perhaps in deference to his new friend, and hastily removed his scull cap
immediately upon completing his meaningless utterance.
Back in Israel one would be hard put to find anything but high praise for Rabin's new
"success" in the quest for "peace". Opposition leaders put aside their contempt for the Rabin
government and joined together in praise of the new peace with Jordan.
If an honest Jew would stop for a minute and think beyond the pomp and
circumstance, it really does not require a genius to see that what occurred here was not a
victory for "peace", nor a harbinger of a bright new future. Rather it was another humiliating
defeat for the Jewish State on it's feverish path toward self destruction.
Who is this King? Where was the war? What is Jordan? Everyone knows that it was
the perfidious British Empire which arbitrarily cut off 78% of the Palestinian Mandate which it
held in custodianship for the Jewish People, and created the new entity called Transjordan
which it handed over as a gift to an Arab named Abdullah. This entity is, in its entirety, part
and parcel of the Jewish homeland. While it may be understandable that no Israeli government
saw fit to wage war to regain that which was stolen from us, no Jew, be he Prime Minister,
King, or Mashiach, has a right to nullify that which was promised to the Jewish People by the
Creator of the Universe.
On July 26, 1994, Yitzchak Rabin committed yet another act of treachery against the
G-d, the People, and the Land of Israel. By signing an agreement with Hussein, Rabin, in
effect, established a precedent in which the Jewish State, for the first time, recognized the
legitimacy of the thievery of Jewish Land from the Jewish People. Even were it true (and it
isn't) that Hussein is a moderate who wants to live in peace with Israel, that cannot justify
giving him any part of our country.
When Rabin gave Arafat his hand he, in effect, justified murder and terror. When he
gave Hussein his hand he, in effect, justified stealing Jewish Land from the People of Israel.
Other than committing national suicide, I cannot imagine more perfidious behavior on the part
of a so called leader.
While Clinton claps his hands and calls Rabin a hero, a more honest perception would
label him a coward and traitor.
There is no peace in the Land of Israel today. Not with Jordan, not with "Palestine"
and not with Egypt. What is taking place is a transparent effort by the enemies of Israel to use
pleasing words, especially the magic word "peace", to gain both financial benefits, and to
weaken the Jewish State on all fronts in preparation for an all out war of destruction. Despite
its transparency, the effort is succeeding.
I cannot blame our enemies for trying to destroy us. I cannot even get angry with
Clinton for failing to see the obvious. But I am outraged that I am forced to suffer under an
aged despot masquerading as a democratically appointed public servant, who has absolutely
no regard for those who elected him, and even less for his obligation, as a Jewish leader, to the
G-d of Israel.
Peace has always been a goal of the Jewish People. It is one of G-d's holy names.
King Saul erred by fearing public opinion more than the word of G-d. It cost him his
kingdom, and his life. All Saul did was to spare the King of the Amalekites and some of their
livestock. Rabin went far beyond this. He resurrected a moribund terrorist, declared him King
of Palestine, and ceded to him parts of the Land of Israel. Then he reached out to a fraud and
a thief and legitimized his thievery of more than half of the land of Israel!
The fault does not lie with Rabin alone. It lies with every Jewish government since the
reestablishment of Jewish sovereignty in the Land of Israel. Rather than accept the universal
mandate for Israel to be the Jewish State, its leaders virtually nullified this declared purpose by
failing to unequivocally define it as such.
Once you begin to compromise on your self respect, your identity, your beliefs, and
your G-d, you have embarked upon the road to self destruction. The series of events which
have taken place since last September 13, were only a logical progression of the failure of any
Jewish government to take a stand on the most basic issue of the defined purpose for the
very existence of the Jewish state. By belittling the role of the Jewish State as a haven and
homeland exclusively of the Jewish People, and relegating that role as secondary to a far
greater and all-encompassing "democratic" one, which includes our very enemies, our
founding fathers signed a death warrant to the Jewish State. Rabin is merely presiding over
the results of their errors.
While perhaps it may be said that the founding fathers failed to understand the
implications of their follies, no one can fail to recognize the significance of the recent self
destructive steps taken by the Rabin government.
Sadat signed a peace treaty with Begin, while wearing a tie clearly and overtly
designed with swastikas. To this very day Egypt has not honored its agreements at full
normalization with the Jewish State.
Rabin went crawling to Arafat begging him to stop throwing rocks and offering to give
him whatever he wants... hoping to stop after giving away Judea and Samaria. Arafat wasted
no time declaring his intentions to build a new Arab state on top of the Jewish one with
Jerusalem as his exclusive capital.
Jordan, which has no right as a sovereign entity, magnanimously agreed to allow Rabin
to recognize its legitimacy in return for further territorial compromise and help in gaining
economic aid from the United States.
And Syria, which has no intention of demeaning itself by associating with its sworn
enemy, Israel, has indicated a willingness to talk only after all of the Golan is given to her.
This stubborn stance has shown clear signs of being rewarded by a government which is
prepared to do anything for a piece of paper signed by liars, thieves and murderers.
So while "visionaries", like Peres and Christopher, speak of a new era of peace and
love, while bombs go off in New York, London and Argentina and Jews are gunned down in
cold blood all over the Jewish State, let us not deceive ourselves. Peace has never resulted
from appeasement. Only when genuine leadership returns to Israel, which recognizes,
unequivocally the Divine destiny of the Jewish People in her homeland will we begin to see
genuine redemption. Judging by the total lack of such leadership today, coupled with the
miraculous existence of this nation in spite of its suicidal leadership can only reassure us both
that we still enjoy Divine protection, and that the authentic Mashiach must arrive very soon in
order to complete the process of redemption which, clearly, is already well underway.
