Dear Editor,

I just recently came across an article printed in the Daily News on Tuesday, September
13, 1994. It was entitled, "In just 1 year, seeds of peace bear much fruit for Israelis".
Although it was written by Colette Avital, Israel's ambassador to the United States, as
a citizen of the Jewish State who has seen only rotten fruit from these ill begotten seeds, I wish
to express my view which is diametrically opposed to that of the honorable Israeli ambassador.
While it certainly can be stated that many Arab countries are seeking to become
involved in the "peace" process, it is simply incorrect to assume that this means we have now
made new friends who are eager to accept us into the international community. Any honest
observer cannot help but recognize the outright deceit in referring to the handshake with arch
terrorist Arafat, as a prelude to a new era of "peace".
When Rabin suggested that the "Palestinians" be granted autonomy in Gaza and
Jericho, can anyone who has a television set say that this is what they got? What I saw on my
television set was the invasion of the "Palestinian Army" liberating Gaza and Jericho from the
IDF as a first step toward destroying the Jewish State. I saw them tear down the Israeli flag
and raise the "Palestinian" one. I saw and heard the chants, led by Arafat, "In blood and spirit
we will liberate all of Palestine."
I am neither deaf nor blind. Does the honorable ambassador think that the readers of
the Daily News don't watch television? One needn't be a student of Arabic to know that the
invaders of Israel were and are, in no way, grateful for Israel's gestures of friendship. They
simply see those gestures as a sign of weakness which encourages them to continue the war to
destroy my country and replace it with their "Palestine".
And all the other Arab nations which the good ambassador claims are "new friends"
who "put out the welcome mat", could more correctly be described as vultures who smell a
decaying carcass and seek to bite off their piece. Indeed, Israel is quick to offer economic,
agricultural and medical aid in return for meaningless gestures of "peace". It is not at all
remarkable to find so many Arab nations being drawn by Israel's surrender to Arafat. Why
shouldn't they seek to get their piece of the pie?
I fail to see any credence in the allegation by Ms. Avital that the "hard line Arab
extremists are losing the public opinion battle." If the peace loving Arabs living in Israel's
Gaza Strip and Jericho are no longer "extremists", why is it that Jews from other parts of
Israel can no longer freely wander about in these areas of our country? Why is it that Jews are
being murdered in Jerusalem by "Palestinian" "Police" who infiltrated from Gaza? How sweet
to see the fruit of peace.
"Unfortunately, terrorism is still active, though to a lesser degree than in the past."
First of all "fortune" has nothing to do with it. Taking murderers out of prison, giving
them guns and uniforms and calling them "police", as well as encouraging them to believe that
they are on the verge of building "Palestine" is what has created this "misfortune". I don't
know to which past Ms. Avital is referring, but the facts show that Arab terror has increased
since we have had "peace" with Arafat.
As a Jew and an Israeli I am repulsed at my deceit ridden government which surrenders
to our enemies and tells us that we now have "peace". As Arab terrorists continue to murder
Jews and fellow Arabs as they march on the road to destroy the Jewish state, my Prime
Minister and Foreign Minister tell me that this is the price we must pay for "peace". We pay
for this peace in an endless sea of blood, and they expect us to applaud as they go to Oslo to
pick up their prize together with arch terrorist, Arafat.
I am terribly sorry but the emperor is clearly naked and it is high time that someone
takes notice.
