Wizard of OZ - Smoke and Mirrors

"I am OZ, the Great and Terrible" : the Wizard
"You must keep my secret and tell no one I am a humbug" : the Wizard

Our lives are distorted and corrupted by the authorities of industry, politics, and religion, those terrible wizards with their smoke and mirrors. They are comfortable with their power and (when not checked) always demand more.

Freedom, when cherished, will be continuously defended and reclaimed. If neglected it will be diminished and, perhaps, be altogether lost. Liberty, in the whole history of humanity, has never been won for all time. Rather the history of liberty is the story of its victory and later loss. Lost again and again due to the bigotries, fears, apathy, or laziness of those who once possessed it.

It is imperative, if we are to be complete as human beings, that we use and develop our individual skills of observation, learning, thought, and moral judgment. When we do not do these things, we become ignorant, petty, mean, and enslaved.

From each "wizard", for every policy and pronouncement, we must ask several questions and not accept spoon fed pablum as the answers.

How do you know this?
What are the options?
Who decides the policies?
What are the benefits?
Who receives the benefits?
What are the costs?
Who receives the costs?

This then is the responsibility and adventure for those who would live free.
