Street Troopers - "Take the Battle to the Streets" demo This is the way Oi! is meant to be: loud, proud and straight from the working class. Street Troopers eight song demo comes with a high energy attack that will surely get you stomping yer boots! These four boot boys from Montreal have got it down tight. Their lyrics have a strong sense of unity and pride. They break away from the Oi! with the songs "Ska train", a sloppy but cool ska track; and "Jamaican Police", an excellent skinhead reggae number. The songs "Traitor" and "Oi! Against Racism" deliver a strong message that boneheads have no place among skinhead scenes and that racism in any level should not be tolerated. "Oi! Against Racism", in particular, stresses the importance of standing together in the fight against racial prejudice because united we win!

Stage Bottles - Corruption and Murder CD  Awesome record.  As left wing Oi!/Streetpunk goes (and it's been known not to go to far!) this is incredible.   Pretty straight forward oi! instrumentation (except they seem to know how to play their instruments), and AWESOME lyrics.  I'm gonna give this one 4 out of 4 stars, or two thumbs up or whatever.  Contact: Mad Butcher Rkds.

Sun, Sea and Socialism Comp - Lots of good stuff here.  Blaggers, Adjusters, Les Partisans, Red London, Stage Bottles, Striknein, Backlash, the Strike, and a track from Attilla the Stockbroker you may have heard before, but will still make your blood run cold.  I think this one gets a bonehead driving that truck instead of Reginald Denny. Contact: Mad Butcher Rkds.

The Blaggers - On Yer Toez CD - Most of the people reading this have probably been listening to this stuff for years, but this is the first time I've had a copy on cd.   Awesome Oi!/Streetpunk with other elements thrown in.  If  a knucklehead like George Marshall will cop to the Blaggers being the real deal, and RASH thrives on this shit, you know it's better than finding an open cash drawer. Contact: Mad Butcher Rkds.

Stage Bottles - Big Kick!! CD - Not as impressive as above, but good.  Mad Butcher again.

The Steam Pig - WY-ID T'D' DOUBLE-IN CD - Hmmm... Not my thing.  If your into funny punk, it'll be yours though.  For me, kind of like finding out my mom "hung out" with the guitar players from alot of stadium rock bands in the early 70's. Contact: Mad Butcher Rkds.

Worker Demo tape Price: a couple bucks I think Good H/C band from San Francisco with some socialist lyrics, seem like real cool guys too. Older East coast influences, some metal. 4 out of 5 stars, 5 with better production. Contact :WORKER

Earquake Magazine Price: $2 ppd, worldwide (or some cheese and wine. heh...) Half-page b&w zine from France. Covers alot of international Oi!, Ska, and Punk/HC stuff. It's totally in French, but it has tons and tons of reviews, and contact adresses, which make it great, even if you don't read the language... The previous issue has interviews with Juggling Jugulars, Boots and Braces (Hey, maybe it was a slow month!), Kerbholz, Ruin Bois (again, he probably had some space to fill up. hah.), and Less than Jake. I don't speak or read french, but I've already stolen some of his graphics, and the reviews/contact info is great, so 5 out of 5 for Earquake. Contact: EARQUAKE ZINE

Klaxon- 100celle City Rockers CD Well, I wasn't that into this one. Obvious Clash influences (one of them even looks like he was in the Clash...), real uptempo stuff. Certainly not bad, but I'm just not into this kind of music, generally. If you like Rancid, etc. then this would definately be the thing for you. In Italian. 2 out of 5 Contact:GRIDALO FORTE RECORDS

Nabat-Nati Per Niente CD Ok, this is a GREAT record. These guys have been around for a Loooong time, and they know what they're doing. Great Oi! and great musicianship. Alot of times, you either get really good hard vocals with a lack of talent, or a good voice that sounds like somebody's little brother. Not the case with Nabat. I think this is an extremely talented band, that knows how to blend their technical ability with a rough street sound. 12 songs. 5 out of 5, definately! Contact: BANDA BONNOT RECORDS

Columna Infame Skinhead CD Communist SxE'rs and Skinheads! Italian Political/SxE hardcore. Honestly not the best HC I've ever heard. To me at least, it sounds kind of like a rougher version of older SoCal H/C with a heavy oi! influence sing alongs, etc. From the pictures in the liner, it looks like their shows are probably a blast, and I like the music alot, but I think that for the type of H/C they're doing, the CD is over-produced. I have to say that the acoustic track is awesome though! I think that the next thing I hear from these guys will probably impress the hell out of me though, and it's highly collectible, especially if you're a redskin. 3 outta 5. Contact: Banda Bonnot

Reazione-l'altra faccia della riviera CD At least two of the members of Klasse Kriminale are in this band. The lyrics are in Italian, but they're translated in the liner, and this is what Oi! is all about for me. Very anthemy stuff, rough vocals, good solid Oi! instrumentation.  Track 6 is called "Contro il muro" but strangely enough, sounds EXACTLY like Boots and Braces. Hah... 5 out of 5. Contact: Dunno, but Banda Bonnot distributes it!

N.F.R - "Nessuna fottuta regola" - Demo tape -Twins Record. Promising debut for this Oi trio formed by two girls - Anna on guitar and Nicolatta on drums- plus Christian on vocals and bass. Power street OI sound whit chorus and good lyrics in Italian . I like a lot the title track "N.F.R" and "Colpevole" that speak about how it's hard to be Skin in Italy. Contact Twins Records CP 804 -COMO5 - 22100 COMO- Italy.

F.F.D. - "Ridere di rabbia"- LP- SKOOTER RECORDS New album for FFD fun oriented OI band from Parma (Italy).12 tracks between OI and Ska that show a great technical ability and a very good vocalist. The music its very good with anthem like "Brindare in Compagnia" or "Dimmi se mi sbaglio". It's a pity that some lyrics are a little bit stupid. Very nice, instead, is "Luna ribelle " with lyric of great impact. Great for fun. Contact SKOOTER RECORDS Via A Mazza 65B- 37129 Verona Italy.

GHETTO 84 - "A Denti Stretti" - CD Gridalo Forte Records The latest (I believe) from Ghetto 84. Excellent Oi!/Punk from one of Italy's best bands. Songs against rich people, dope dealers, cops, politicians, unemployment, dissolusionment. Pretty good, I think if I could understand Italian I'de appreciate it alot more though. 3 out of five big red stars.

RASH ANTHEMS - tape - RASH NYC Haha now you know I'm not going to give this one a bad review! Actually there are some songs that I personally don't like here, but they're great for historical reference. There are just so many choice cuts on this thing.... Kortatu (Basque Country) singing "The Internationale", Redskins "the Peasant Army", Nabat "Laida Bologna" (probably my favorite!), Red London "Revolution times", Red Alert "The Revolution will come", Iskanbila "Skinhead", Erode (my personal favorite Oi! band these days) "Orguglio Proletario", The Press (The ORIGINAL American Oi! band from NYC) "Revolution Now", Britanarchist (the Burial + Nick Toczcyeck or however you spell it!) "Saturday night", as well as other incredible tracks by Nuclear Device, Banda Bassotti, Blaggers ITA, Angelic Upstarts, Comrade, Oi Polloi, Anhrefn, The Oppressed, Banlieue Rouge, Molodoi, Those Unknown, The Stab, Crisis, Zakarrak. A great combination of all the world's Greatest left wing Oi!/punk bands. If you want a copy, write to RASH NYC (email me for the po box) and send them at least $3 plus postage, or I can do the same. (GREAT cover artwork, also!)

Balla E Difendi Vol. II - Gridalo Forte Records Really good comp of european Oi! and Ska bands. Tracks from the Inadaptats -"Redskin", Ghetto 84 - "Viva La Revolution", as well as a ton of other great European bands. 15 tracks in all ranging from the fury of Erode to the laid back ska of Tremende. I think I'll give this one two guns up.

The Strike (Mpls. USA) - Victoria, Self titled, and split with The Dilinger four 7"'s. Ok, all of these are great. The Strike is a red mod band from Mpls who Play what you would probably call "power pop", but borders on punk IMHO. Alot of people think that they sound VERY similar to old Stiff Little Fingers stuff, and I certainly agree. Tracks on these three records include "Red Storm Rising", "Take Action", "Fire Away", etc. 7" don't cost anything, and if you run across these or can order them, it's WELL worth a few bucks. http://k2.scl.cwru.edu/~pjn2/strike.htm

The Informers - Say it With Anger 7" - Negative Records I expected a bit more from this one, because some of the members used to be in a band that I like quite a bit. Sounds similar to Bad Religion/SoCal Hardcore, but it's in French and I understand it even less than B.R. with all of their zillion dollar word lyircs. Negative Records, 80 Avenue de St Ouen, 75018 Paris, France

External Menace - Seize the Day 7" - Negative Records I really like this one alot. Really good political punk band from Scotland, who sound varyingly like Stiff Little Fingers, Oi Polloi, and others. I don't know that this is something alot of skinheads would necessarily like, but I really love it.
