The present Armenian Patriarche Karekin Kazanciyan (1990- )
A 16th century miniature depicting Sultan Mehmet II shooting an arrow at the Serpentine Column in the Hippodrome after the conquest of Istanbul. The Armenian priest who can be seen cheering him on, is said to have been appointed the first Armenian Patriarch of Istanbul, Hovagim.
