En 1911 B.N.Yuriev (entonces estudiante) completó el
desarrollo teórico de un helicóptero con rotor principal y rotor de cola. Como era el
desarrollo de un estudiante no encontró eco en el soporte oficial, por lo tanto,
el
planeado helicóptero con un motor Gnome de 70 HP fue rediseñado con un motor Anzani de
30 HP, las palas del rotor eran fijas debido al costo, y todo el proyecto se limitó al
estudio de las reacciones del rotor. El "prototipo" estuvo listo en 1912 y
consiguió una medalla de oro en el Segundo Show Internacional de Aviación (Moscú), como
una "Teoría remarcable". Las pruebas se realizaron en el otoño de 1912, y las
primeras conclusiones fueron que el motor Anzani producía demasiadas vibraciones y muy
pocas RPM. Rápidamente el mástil del rotor principal se rompió, poniéndose así fin a
las pruebas. |

In 1911 B.N. Yuriev (then student) completed development of theoretical concept of the helicopter with single main rotor. As it was common in Russia, domestic project of a student failed to get an official support, and inventor was left on his own. As a result, planned 70 hp Gnome engine was replaced by 30 hp Anzani, rotor blades were fixed (necessary materials were too expensive). Goals were limited by study of trust and reaction of rotors. 'Prototype' was ready on Spring 1912, and got a Golden Medal on the Second International Aircraft Show (Moscow) as a 'remarcable theoretical project'. Tests were carried out during Fall 1912. First conclusion was that Anzani engine is unsuitable - produced too much vibration, did not run smooth enough and failed to provide low rpm's.
