Versión mejorada del MI-8, con más potencia y motores preparados para condiciones de alta temperatura y alta altitud. La designación MI-17 es para exportación, la USSR lo llama MI-8MT. Cambia tambien el lugar del rotor de cola con respecto al MI-8, en este se encuentra sobre el lado izquierdo, en tanto que en el Mi-8 está sobre el lado derecho. Previsto principalmente como helicóptero de transporte de carga pero con capacidad secundaria para pasaje, recibió el nombre código de la OTAN "Hip H", cuando fue identificado por primera vez durante 1980-81y de hecho, el tipo es basicamente una combinación de la célula del Mi-8 con la nueva planta de poder introducida en el Mi-14, el turboeje Isotov TV3. El helicóptero se construye en la planta de Mil en Moscú y en la planta de Kazan Helicopter en Kazan, y está disponible en las versiones militares y civiles. El Mi-17-1V se fabrica en las siguientes versiones: combate; asalto (transportando hasta 30 soldados equipados); ambulancia (médico y 12 camillas); transporte de carga (hasta 4000 Kg.). |

Improved MI-8, with more powerful engines for 'hot and high' conditions. The designation Mi-17 is for export; the USSR armed forces called it MI-8MT. The Mi-17 can be recognized because it has the tail rotor at the starboard side, instead of the port side. The helicopters are manufactured by the Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant JSC in Moscow and the Kazan Helicopter Plant JSC in Kazan and are available in civil and military versions. The Mi-17-1V Helicopter is manufactured in the following versions: combat; assault (carrying about 30 airborne troops); ambulance (with medical equipment and 12 stretchers); and transport (airlifting up to 4,000 kg in the cargo cabin and up to 4,000 kg on external sling). The combat version of the Mi-17-1V helicopter is armed with rockets, guns and bombs, suspended on six BD3-57KRVM Bomb Racks. The helicopter has armour plates fitted to protect the crew from gun and machine gun fire. Armour plates cover the floor, front and rear hemispheres, rear part of the crew cabin, weapon operator floor and cargo cabin hinged doors of the fuselage. |
