MANZOLINI LIBELLULA

El conde italiano Ettore Mazolini estableció en Roma, Italia, una compañía para la construcción de un helicóptero bifuselaje de dos rotores coaxiales diseñado por el mismo. El Mazolini Libellula básico voló el 7 de enero de 1952, al que le siguieron el Libellula II con un motor Walter Minor 4-III de 101 HP. obteniendo la certificación italiana el 15 de octubre de 1962. Luego se construyeron los prototipos del biplaza Libellula III con motor Walter M 332 de 140 HP. y del cuatriplaza Libellula IV al que estaba previsto ponerle un motor Allison 250C-18, pero el Conde Mazolini decidió a fines de los 60 suspender los trabajos.

The Libellula was the brainchild of Count Ettore Manzolini. It was very similar to the Sud Djinn in external appearance with an open framework fuselage and fixed skid undercarriage. Manzolini devised a coaxial rotor system for the Libellula and flew his prototype on 7 January 1952. This was followed by the Libellula II which used a higher powered 105hp Walter Minor 4-III engine and had an enclosed cockpit. This aircraft, I-MANZ, gained an RAI type certificate in 1962, but no manufacture was undertaken.
