FLETTNER FL-339 |
|
pudo llevar a cabo. |

With the Flettner Fl-282 developed and ready for series production, Anton Flettner asked the RLM for the approval to produce his next helicopter design, the Flettner Fl-339. Design work on the Fl-339 began in 1944 and was for a helicopter with a higher load capacity than that of the Flettner 282 . The prototype machine used the same rotor arrangement as the Flettner 282, however with a greater rotor diameter of 13.20 m. A new engine and transmission was designed- to incorporated the new rotors to the helicopter body. A completely new power transmission went over a double worm gear. For this reason the engine, a Argus As 10 C air-cooled v-engine with eight cylinders and 1 x 240 HP take-off power was situated in a car above the cab. An uncovered crew cab was positioned under the engine and transmission, with a sloped-end arranged vertical stabilizer. A normal horizontal stabilizer was provided. The crew cab was designed to carry two crew members, in a back-to-back seating arrangement. Landing gear consisted of a rigid tricycle chassis. Because of the deteriotating war events the construction on the Fl-339 could not be carried out and all design work ended with the collapse of Germany in 1945. Thanks to germanvtol.com |
