DE LA CIERVA C.1

Primer aparato construido por Juan De la Cierva, en 1920, este no llegó a volar pues su control resultaba imposible y la interferencia de los rotores desequilibraba la sustentación. El fuselaje era de un monoplano francés Deperdussin, sobre el que montó dos rotores cuatripalas contrarrotatorios con un motor Le Rhone de 60 HP.

Al año siguiente construiría el Cierva C.2, con el fuselaje de un biplano Hanriot acoplado a un rotor tripala.

The first machine built by Juan de la Cierva, in 1920, this did not end up flying -- control was impaired by dyssymetry of lift. The fuselage was from a French Deperdussin monoplane, on which was mounted two counter-rotating powered by a Him Rhone engine of 60 HP.

The following year the Cierva C.2 was built, with the fuselage of a Hanriot biplane fitted with a three-bladed rotor.
