Bell and Boeing are teamed for the military V-22 Osprey tiltrotor transport and have now extended their link for this civil project, which should pave the way for larger models as well. At the NBAA convention in November 1996, the companies announced that the intend to build four prototypes of the Bell Boeing 609, with a first flight scheduled for mid-1999. Certification and first deliveries will follow in the first quarter of 2001. Target price for the new tiltrotor is 8 to 10 million US-Dollars. Assembly will take place at Fort Worth.
