El Dr. Igor Bensen, antiguo ingeniero de Kaman Aircraft, estableció su propia compañía en Raleigh, Carolina del Norte, a principio de la década del 50. Su trabajo se centró en lo que él consideraba era un aparato muy atractivo para los pilotos privados, como el B-8, autogiro cometa remolcado por un automóvil, que podía construirse a partir de planos y un kit de piezas fáciles de armar. La idea tuvo éxito dado que en la actualidad el GYRO-GLIDER es todavía accesible bajo la forma de kit. El B-8 Gyro-Glider no posee motor. |

Dr. Igor Benson, a former engineer with Kaman Aircraft, founded his own company in Raleigh, North Carolina, in the 1950's. Believing that autogyros would be popular among private pilots, Benson developed the B-8, which could be built from plans and an easily-constructed kit. The aircraft was launched by towing it behind an automobile. The model has enjoyed some success, and the "Gyro-Glider" may still be obtained in kit form. |
