BELL 206 BIII JET RANGER III

La producción del JetRanger II finalizó en verano de 1977, al ser reemplazado en la línea por el Modelo 206B JetRanger III. Este aparato, que incorporaba una versión más potente del turboeje Allison un rotor de cola mas grande y ofrecía amplias mejoras en las prestaciones, pasó a ser la versión corriente de producción a finales de 1981. El motor también está disponible en forma de kit, a fin de convertir al JetRanger II al estándar JetRanger III. La capacidad y seguridad de la familia JetRanger se ponen de manifiesto en el desarrollo por la Bell de un helicóptero medio bajo la designación Modelo 206L LongRanger.

El JetRanger III fue presentado en el verano de 1997. La producción de este helicóptero fue transferida en 1986 a Mirabel, en Canadá. Agusta en Italia también produce este modelo. Desde octubre de 1989, la turbina Allison 250-C20R esta disponible como para equipar a este modelo como un opcional, mejorando sus perfomances en alta altitud o calor.

En 1993, Bell ganó el contrato por un nuevo helicóptero para entrenamiento en el US Army. Para esto, el 206B-3 es denominado TH-67 Creek, ordenándose mas de 150 unidades.

The JetRanger III was introduced in the summer of 1977. Manufacture of the 206 BIII was transferred to Mirabel in Canada in 1986. Agusta in Italy also builds the JetRanger. Since October 1989, the Allison 250C-20R engine is available as an option, to improve hot and high performance. The modificaton was produced under a joint supplemental type certificate program between Soloy Conversions and Allison.

In March 1993, Bell won the New Training Helicopter competition of the US Army. For this application, the 206B-3 is designated as TH-67 Creek. More than 150 have been ordered. Also, Taiwan in 1997 contracted for 30 Creeks valued at 40,3 million US-Dollars.

In June/July 1994 Texas aviator Ron Bower used a 206B-3 for a solo round-the world trip in record time. He smashed the previous best of Ross Perot and Jay Coburn by nearly five days. Bower's solo trip took him through 21 countries, and he returned to Fort Worth on 22 July at 13.20 after 24 days, four hours, 36 minutes.

The Bell 206 is one of the most successful helicopter designs of all time. The current JetRanger III model features detail improvements, including: Allison 250-C20J engine which offers 20 shp more power. Increased diameter tail rotor to allow effective directional control at high altitudes.
