A129  International

In a scenario characterised by threats that could be less intense but often no less sophisticated, combat helicopters represent a particularly effective military instrument. However the new scenario no longer requires helicopters dedicated only to the antitank role: they must possess extreme flexibility to respond to multiple needs, with the lowest costs. For this reason Agusta has developed the new A129 International, adding more firepower and new avionics equipment to the well proven A129 Mangusta (Mongoose), in service with the Italian Army.

To destroy armoured targets the A129 International can be equipped with Hellfire or TOW missiles or a mix of both. This dual capability optimises missile delivery for different operational and environmental conditions. Furthermore the A129 International has the capability to fire rockets of different calibre: 81mm for outstanding performance at longer range or 2.75" for ammunition commonality with NATO countries. A three-barrel gattlings type, 20mm cannon is turret mounted under the nose of the helicopter to allow quick off-axis ground and air target engagements. At extended range air-to-air combat has also been made possible by the integration of Stinger type missiles.

The A129 International is a multi-role combat helicopter for day/night and all-weather combat. Equipped with autonomous navigation and sophisticated night vision systems including two independent infrared sensors and integration of display and sight into the crew helmets (IHADSS), the A129 International is capable of performing low level and NOE missions at night and in critical visibility conditions.
