                    THE CANNS IN KENTUCKY AND THE WEST.
 
        The western and southwestern branch of the Cann  family is descended from
William (C), the son ofJohn(B)   of Brewers Run, the son of John of Bristol. William who
was born in 1758, enlistedin the celebrated "Bucktail Brigade," at Philadelphia about
1777-8, as did also hisbrother John.  They doubtless participated in most of the
engagements of this command untilthe close of the Revolution, though they seem to
have become separated when they were mustered out, as William availed himself
of the grant of the westernlands and went to Kentucky,  while John returned to Delaware,
and located near his younger brother, Robert (C).  William, who was born in
 1758, married Mrs.Harry Cash, who had one or two children, some of whose
descendants still reside in the  state.  The date of William's marriage is not known,but
 he died in 1835.
